Editing work at a desk

Hi Visionary,

Welcome to October. The Texas heat is finally breaking, and I want to be outside every chance I get.

It's also closet season. I reorganize my closets twice a year, every fall and every spring, and October is when it happens. Everything comes out, and I decide what earns a place in the next season.

This year I'm running the same sort on my work. It started with a lesson from the 2025 Level Up Summit.

I was working with a VA on the marketing graphics. The designs came back good. On brand, on time, clean. They were also clearly hers.

I sat with the files open and felt my whole body lean toward them. I wanted to warm up the colors, adjust the spacing, redo pieces she had already done well. My fingers hovered over the files before I decided anything.

I let them go out exactly as they were.

The summit sold out.

The graphics did their job, and the kerning stayed my own private opinion.

What stayed with me was how physical the urge had been, over work that was already good enough to fill the room.

What I was protecting in that moment was my place as the one who gets it right.

I tell the longer version in Ep. 11, Resistance + Ambition, including why so many of us keep the cape on long after it stops helping. Have a listen below.
