Hi Visionary,

Last week’s letter clearly touched a nerve.

I told you your calendar was telling on you, that staying available to everyone can keep you booked solid and completely unseen.

Many of you wrote back, and one word kept surfacing: guilty.

Guilt about the yeses you’ve handed out for years, about the people who now expect your availability by default, about how little of your calendar was ever really your choice.

I want to sit with that for a moment, because I think you’re reading the guilt wrong.

The Guilt Is Information

You do not feel guilty about things you cannot see.

The guilt surfaced because you finally recognized the pattern. For years, saying yes felt like generosity, like reliability, like being the kind of woman people can count on. So drawing a line feels like a betrayal of all of that. Of course it stings.

That sting is not proof you did something wrong. It is proof you woke up. You noticed how many of your decisions had been made for you, by habit, by obligation, by the quiet fear that a no would cost you the room.

That recognition is the whole beginning.

You cannot reclaim a decision you never realized you handed away.

So let the guilt do its one useful job, pointing at the pattern, and then let it go.

If you want to move the awareness into real change, try this: Set aside five minutes today to open your calendar, look at just one recent yes, and jot down how you felt when you agreed to it. Noticing your own patterns, even for a single commitment, is a powerful way to begin shifting them. What you do next matters far more than how long you sit with what came before.

The Obligation Yes and the Clarity Yes

Here is the distinction I want you to carry out of this letter.

An obligation yes and a clarity yes look identical on paper. Same meeting, same commitment, same block on the calendar. From the outside, no one can tell them apart.

The person across from you can feel the difference every single time.

An obligatory yes carries a low hum of resentment underneath it. You show up slightly braced, slightly performing, already counting the minutes until your next appointment.

People feel that, even when they cannot name it. It reads as effort, and effort is not magnetic.

And you feel it too. You know the ones. A collaboration you agreed to because a no felt rude, a call you took at an hour you never actually agreed to, a favor you said yes to while something in you went quiet. None of them were disasters, and all of them cost you a little more of yourself than you had to spare.

A clarity yes carries something else entirely. You arrive settled, present, certain you are exactly where you chose to be. There is no pressure in it, because there is no self-abandonment in it. That steadiness is what people are actually drawn to. Not your availability. Your certainty.

This is Attraction, one of the five A's of Joyful Ambition.

The pull is never created by doing more or being everywhere. It comes from congruence, from the alignment between what you agree to and who you actually are.

The Business That Runs on Your Terms

In eighteen years of building my agency and guiding companies through $280M+ in results, work that SUCCESS and Fast Company have both covered, the pattern has held.

The women who become magnetic are the ones who tap into their own intuition and trust themselves. They stop running every choice past an invisible committee, polling for permission on what they already knew, waiting for consensus before trusting their own read: they let all of it go.

Something shifts when you do that.

Your clarity starts reading as authority. People can sense that you are decided, and decided is rare. It signals that you know what you are for, which tells them instantly whether they belong in your orbit. The right ones lean in. The wrong ones drift off, and you let them, because a calendar full of the wrong yeses was never the goal.

You are allowed to build a business that runs on your terms. You are allowed to decide from your own clarity instead of the fear of who might be disappointed. That is not selfishness. That is sovereignty, and it is the most magnetic thing you own.

This Week

This week, do not overhaul a thing.

Just notice.

Every time you say yes, pause and ask one question: is this coming from clarity or from obligation? You do not have to change the answer yet. You only have to start telling the two apart. That awareness alone will begin to move your energy back where it belongs. Over the next few weeks, as you become more familiar with your patterns, you will also notice opportunities to start choosing your yeses from a place of real alignment. Once you can see the difference, it becomes so much easier to make decisions that genuinely serve you and open the door to a new level of clarity in your business and life.

If you want a fuller read on where your sovereignty actually stands, the free Elevation Assessment measures it as one of four domains. It is a quick online quiz with a mix of multiple-choice questions and reflection prompts, and takes less than ten minutes to complete. Most women score lower here than they expect, and the results hand you a clear place to begin.

Take the Elevation Assessment:

Reply and tell me one decision you’re making from clarity this week.

I read and reply personally to every response.

To your continued success,

What I’m Excited About

108 Temps and One Broken A/C Unit

First, a little real life, because it is not always sunshine and rainbows over here.

North Texas weather has been brutal this week. We are talking 108 degrees, a heat index near 116, and of course that is exactly when our downstairs AC decided to quit. The techs have been out, and the owner of the company himself has been out, but so far no one can revive our less than one-year-old unit. Parts are ordered, and we are hoping to have it running again by Friday. In the meantime, I am genuinely grateful we have two units and that upstairs is holding strong. Sometimes gratitude is simply having a cool place to sit.

Another Savvy Ambition Event

By request. You asked for the invite, so here it is.

Valincia and I are hosting The Q4 Jumpstart on Friday, August 14, in Las Colinas. It is a small, curated co-working afternoon for founders who are serious about how they finish the year. You come ready to work, and you leave with a real plan in your hand.

Here is the truth behind it. Last Q4, I closed over $200K in sales, and it came down to intentional planning, clear priorities, and knowing exactly what I wanted before the quarter began.

This is what we are building for you in one focused afternoon:

  • Clear priorities

  • A practical revenue-driven strategy

  • Confidence in your next move

We are keeping the room intentionally small, so only a handful of seats are left and RSVPs close August 10. If you have been wanting to walk into Q4 with a plan instead of a hope, sit at our table.
