In 2021, I had a vision that truly hit me like a bolt of lightning.

Pretty Damn Ambitious™ was born from that clarity.
I poured my time, talent, and capital into highlighting vetted and verified coaches. Women I believed in. Women the world needed to know.
And it worked, to an extent.
The branding was stunning, polished, perfect, even lux.
We launched the platform. Built the engine.
But something was off.
I gave them the image. But not the essence.
The Silent Founder Syndrome
I told myself I was being strategic. Humble.
That this wasn't about me.
But let me be completely transparent: I was hiding.
I didn't want Pretty Damn Ambitious™ to look like just another influencer brand. I didn't want people to think I built this to be seen. So, I scrubbed out anything too personal.
I buried my own story under clean visuals and curated content.
And the result?
We got traction but not depth.
We sparked interest but not investment.
Because the most magnetic part of any movement-driven brand... is the origin story.
There was even a moment I tried stock imagery across the board, everything faceless and "neutral." I thought it looked elevated. However, it looked empty. And it felt like we were selling a ghost.
Lesson learned the hard way: A faceless brand is a forgettable one!
The Day I Realized My Story Was the Strategy
Month after month, I would write "perfect" content that didn't land. It was polished. Pretty. But it didn't pulse.
Until I realized: People don't only buy the what. They buy the why. They don't buy information. They buy identification.
They need a lighthouse, not a spotlight. Not perfection, but presence.
So, I stopped outsourcing my voice. And I started telling the truth.
I wrote like a woman who lived every line, and my business came alive.
One of my clients buried her corporate HR burnout story for years. Thought it didn't "match" her vibe. But the first time she shared it? Her audience lit up. Not because it was perfectly branded, but because it was real. It was lived. It was earned.

How to Sell with Story Without Selling Yourself Out
1. Your story is a filter, not a flood.
You don’t need to air every trauma to earn trust. But you do need to tell your truth. Your story isn’t a full autobiography, it’s a window.
Every story should do one of three things:
Dispel a myth: Challenge what your audience wrongly believes.
Reveal a value: Show what matters to you, even if it breaks convention.
Show what’s possible: Share a turning point that opened a new path.
These are trust builders. Each one expands the emotional real estate between you and your audience.
What belief is keeping your audience stuck? What moment in your life challenges that belief?
2. Your story isn't about you, it's about what your audience feels through you.
You are the mirror. Your audience should see their own longing, struggle, or vision through your experience.
You're not the hero. You're the guide. Think of it like a movie trailer, they want to see if the story resonates, not if it’s perfect.
3. Vulnerability without vision is just venting.
Sharing pain without a point leaves people stuck. But showing your growth invites others to rise with you.
If it bleeds, it doesn’t always lead. What transforms isn’t the trauma, it’s the transcendence.
Your story is a lighthouse, not a confessional booth. It’s not about your past. It’s about where it can lead someone else.

The first time I told my story, really told it, everything changed.
I wrote about being so nervous I tried to buckle my seat belt backward on a flight to meet my first client. The fear of failing in business. The decision to do it anyway, during a recession.
That post? Got picked up by Forbes.
Not because it was perfectly packaged. But because it was undeniably true.
Since then, every major win I've had ties back to this one principle: Story converts. Story builds movements. Story is strategy.
Not content. Not copy. Story.
