The woman who started October doesn't exist anymore (and that's the point)

Hi Visionary,

Recently, my husband sent me a text with two photos side-by-side, one of us from 2013 when we were tailgating with a few Parrothead friends at a Jimmy Buffett concert, and one from just a few months ago.

I bounded up the stairs to his office and said, "God, I don't recognize those people." We both stared unblinkingly at the images in silence. Grateful for the growth but also in acknowledging our past selves that got us to this point.

Those people are still us, but boy, have we changed.

First, we've dropped the equivalent of a K-pop star, over 150 pounds between us. I went Beyoncé blonde, and we've exchanged a lot of bad habits for good ones. And mentally? We're just not in the same place. I now consider us enlightened, but of course, still learning and growing. Are we perfect? Not even close, but we are no longer "those people."

You might say, "Of course you've changed, Bianca. That was almost 12 years ago."

Guess what? A lot of people don't change. Or if they do, it's not always for the better.
