🛑 Stop planning forward. Start from December 2026
You designed your December 2026 identity. Now here's the psychology-backed methodology that reverse-engineers the roadmap to get you there.
Hi Visionary,
Last week, you designed your 2026 identity.
You know who December 2026 You is, her revenue, work hours, lifestyle, and client roster. You’ve felt what it’s like to be her instead of chase her. That feeling? It wasn’t pretend.
It was truth.
That identity lives in your body already; you just remembered it last week. If you need a refresh on last week's identity work, I walk through the identity design process on this week's Joyful Ambition podcast episode. Sometimes, hearing my voice explain it makes it click differently than reading it.
But here’s where most ambitious women get stuck: They have the vision. They lack the roadmap.
They know who they want to become, but they’re planning from where they ARE, not where they’re GOING.
So they set Q1 goals based on current capacity, current rates, current limitations. And by March, they’ve lost momentum because their actions weren’t aligned with their destination.
If you’ve ever wondered why “doing more” still leads to burnout, this is it. The wrong version of you is driving the plan.
After helping entrepreneurs generate $280M+ in client results over 17 years, I’ve discovered the pattern that separates women who reach their December destination from those who stay stuck at their starting point:
They don’t plan forward from January. They plan backward from December.
This is The Reverse Calendar Method and it’s how you turn last week’s identity design into this year’s strategic reality.
And when you reverse your calendar, you reverse the pressure. You’re no longer pushing uphill, you’re moving from the inevitability of who you’re becoming.
Why Forward Planning Keeps You Stuck
Every year, the cycle repeats itself.
Ambitious women entrepreneurs sit down in late December with their journals, vision boards, and fresh planners. They set January goals based on what feels achievable right now. They map out Q1 strategies rooted in current capacity. They build their business plans from where they’re standing today.
And by March, the momentum is gone.
They do not lack discipline and they do work hard enough. But they were building toward a target they never clearly defined, or worse, building from their current identity instead of their desired one.
You need alignment. You don’t need another planner. You need a path designed by your future self, not your current self.
After auditing 37 women’s businesses this year, I discovered that 78% were planning based on last year’s capacity, not next year’s identity. They were asking “What can I realistically accomplish in Q1?” instead of “What must happen in Q1 to create December 2026 Me?”
See the difference?
One question keeps you tethered to who you are today. The other question pulls you toward who you’re becoming.
And that’s the power shift: from surviving today to designing from a version of you who’s already built the thing you’re craving now.
Women who plan forward from January stay stuck at their current level.
Women who plan backward from December consistently generate 2.3x more revenue while working fewer hours.
The cost of forward planning is expensive: scattered efforts, misaligned clients, underpricing that reflects old identity, and exhaustion from working hard on the wrong things.
This is not a broken strategy. It’s just being executed by a version of you that’s expired.
Identity without strategy is just daydreaming. You did the foundational work last week, you designed who you’re becoming. But identity without implementation? That’s just manifestation theatre.
Dreaming without direction leads to disillusionment. But design + decision? That creates momentum you don’t have to fight for.
You need both: Identity design (who you’re becoming, last week’s work) AND strategic architecture (how you get there, this week’s work).
How It Actually Works
You’ve already designed your December 2026 identity. Now we’re reverse-engineering the quarterly milestones that CREATE her.
Most planning methods fail because they skip the identity work and jump straight to tactics. But you didn’t skip it. You did the foundational work last week. Now we’re going to architect the bridge between Current You and December 2026 You.
And that bridge? It’s built backwards, not forwards.
Not time travel, it’s identity travel. And you’re already on your way.
Step 1: Review Your December 2026 Identity
Pull out your notes from last week’s identity design exercise. Revisit the specifics: What does December 2026 You’s business look like? Who is she?
Her revenue. Her client roster. Her work hours. Her lifestyle. Her team structure. Her authority positioning.
This isn’t about goals, it’s about embodiment.
Goals chase results. Identity commands them.
For example: December 2026 You is the CEO with a $350K business, works 4-day weeks, leads a small team of two, and serves only premium clients who respect her methodology and pay her premium rates without negotiation.
Feel the difference between that and “I want to make more money in 2026”? One is vague aspiration. The other is identity clarity.
Step 2: Reverse Engineer Her Quarterly Evolution
Here’s where the magic happens. Most people ask “What do I need to do in Q1?” I’m asking you something completely different: “What version of December 2026 Me exists in each quarter?”
Each quarter is a chapter in her origin story. You’re not guessing. You’re documenting her rise.
Work backwards:
Q4 2026 (Oct-Dec):
What version of December 2026 You is closing out the year?
What must be true about her business, her rates, her clients, her systems, her team?
She’s not scrambling to hit year-end goals—she’s celebrating a year of aligned momentum.
What made that possible?
Q3 2026 (Jul-Sep):
What version of her was preparing for that Q4 success?
What identity shifts happened in the summer that set up her confident close?
Maybe she raised her rates in August, or she released her lowest-tier offer in July, or she hired her first team member in September.
Q2 2026 (Apr-Jun):
What version of her was accelerating mid-year?
What systems, offers, or team structures were in place by June that made Q3 possible?
She’s not starting from scratch mid-year; she’s building on Q1 momentum.
Q1 2026 (Jan-Mar):
What version of her was laying the foundation?
What early decisions created momentum for the rest of the year?
She didn’t wait until she “felt ready.”
She stepped into the identity on January 1st that made everything else inevitable.
You’re not tracking goals but witnessing the unfolding of a woman who knew where she was headed, and moved like it.
Step 3: Map the Monthly Identity Milestones Backwards
Now get specific. Within each quarter, what are the 3–5 critical DECISIONS that created your December 2026 result?
Not tasks. Not to-do lists. DECISIONS about who you’re becoming.
Because your future doesn’t respond to hustle. It responds to decisive identity shifts.
For Q4: “December 2026 Me only works with clients who’ve implemented my framework first” → Decision made in October to add qualification criteria
For Q3: “She’s known as THE authority on her methodology” → Decision made in July to pitch three major publications
For Q2: “She leads a team, not a solopreneur operation” → Decision made in April to invest in hiring support
For Q1: “She charges what she’s worth, not what feels safe” → Decision made in January to raise rates 40%
Step 4: Identify Your January Starting Point
Now, and only now, do you know what January 1st needs to look like to create December 2026 You.
Your Q1 actions are aligned with your December destination identity. Every quarter builds toward the next version of you, not away from the past.
Planning from the future is how you make the present powerful.
You’re not setting “realistic” goals based on current capacity. You’re setting identity-aligned milestones based on your destination.
This is how you plan with both ambition AND sustainability. Because you’re not forcing yourself to become someone overnight. You’re architecting your evolution quarter by quarter.
Why This Actually Works
Research from Psychology Today shows that backward planning consistently outperforms forward planning, leading to better motivation, clearer thinking, and improved results, especially for complex goals.
Why? Because your brain works better with endpoint clarity.
Your brain is begging for direction. Not more ideas. Just clarity on where you’re leading it.
When you plan forward, your brain focuses on obstacles and current limitations. When you plan backward, your brain focuses on solutions and required decisions.
Neuroscience supports this: destination thinking activates different neural pathways than origin thinking. One keeps you stuck in present circumstances. The other pulls you toward future identity.
What To Do This Week
Stop planning 2026 like everyone else. Start building it backwards like December 2026 You would.
The more you move like her, the faster she shows up.
This Week: Your Reverse Calendar Session (60 minutes)
1. Review Last Week’s Identity Design (10 minutes)
2. Work Backwards Through Each Quarter (40 minutes)
3. Determine Your January 1st Identity Starting Position (10 minutes)
This is where she starts breathing through you, decision by decision. This is where it becomes real.
Next Week: Build Your Q1 Identity Roadmap
Don’t plan the entire year yet. Just Q1, based on your reverse mapping. Your Q1 actions should directly build toward your Q2 identity evolution. Focus on becoming, not just doing.
You’re allowed to design your year from the destination backward. This isn’t manifesting, it’s strategic architecture rooted in identity transformation and proven by $280M+ in client results.
Integration
The difference between December 2026 You and January 2026 You isn’t just strategy, it’s the integration of identity and implementation.
Last week, you designed who you’re becoming.
This week, you mapped how she’s created, quarter by quarter, month by month, decision by decision.
And with every mapped milestone, she becomes less of a vision and more of a reality you’re already inhabiting.
Most entrepreneurs do one or the other. They either dream about identity without building strategy, or they execute tactics without anchoring to identity. Both approaches lead to exhaustion.
But the women I’ve worked with over 17+ years who generate 2.3x revenue increases while working fewer hours? They do both. They design the identity. Then they architect the strategy that brings her to life.
Because identity without strategy is daydreaming. And strategy without identity is exhausting.
But when you architect your year from your destination identity backward? That’s when transformation becomes inevitable.
December 2026 You already knows how this ends. Now? You just need to walk it out.
December 2026 You is already calling. Now you know exactly how to answer.
