What if the thing holding you back is loyalty?

My husband and I used to quietly dread certain family trips.

Don’t get me wrong, we love our family deeply.

But there were times we found ourselves packing bags not out of excitement, instead of what felt like obligation, going back to the same city when we’d rather be exploring a new one or enjoying quiet time together. Dutifully, we would head to the airport, smile, and say, “This is just what we do.”

At some point, I started calling them “Oblications.”

Vacations that weren’t about joy or rest. Just responsibility, tradition and obligation.

And the more I said the word, the more I started seeing oblications everywhere, even in our businesses.

I was saying yes to things I no longer felt aligned with.

Maintaining offers, routines, even relationships, because I always had.

Because they used to work. Because I used to be that version of me.

And maybe… you're experiencing your own version of this too.

The truth is, most of us aren’t really stuck.

We’re just being loyal. Loyal to old roles.

Old rhythms. Old expectations.

Loyal to a version of ourselves that no longer exists.

This is what happens to many women.

You're not confused about what’s next.

You're preserving something that needs to be released.

You're not unclear.

You're entangled in decisions made by a woman who needed them to survive.

And now you're maintaining a structure that was built to protect an earlier version of your power and your ego.

This is what I call legacy loyalty.

Legacy loyalty does this:

You tell yourself it's brand consistency. Really, it's emotional obligation.

Faithfulness without alignment is just self-abandonment.

When you keep honoring what used to work, you create friction with what wants to emerge.

And over time, you begin building around what feels familiar rather than what feels true.

This is inertia.

Presence without connection.

You're preserved in time, it’s your very own nurtured oblication.

I should have felt unstoppable pitching a $150K contract.

I should've felt powerful and confident.

But instead, I found myself subtly editing mid-conversation.

Shrinking the scope, softening the language, and toning down the results. I believed in the offer completely.

But I was still trying to make the pitch fit the voice of the woman who had first created it.

That version of me was measured. Considerate. Strategic to a fault.

She built for credibility.

She shaped her messaging around what others could receive, not what she truly wanted to say.

And here I was—still operating from her blueprint.

Still asking, "What would she say here?" instead of, "What do I believe now?"

I was trying to protect the legacy of my past self, instead of amplifying the truth of who I've become.

There's a kind of blind loyalty that's sweet in dogs and suffocating in humans.

The kind that keeps you returning to the same routines, roles, and relationships long after they've stopped serving you.

I had crossed that line. And I didn't even realize it.

I was just obeying, habits, expectations, old definitions of success.

And that's when it became clear: She's not the problem.

She's just done.

She built the foundation.

And I will always be grateful for her and can’t thank her enough.

But she's not the one who's meant to build the next floor, this new version of me was.

Here's the truth most high-achieving women avoid saying out loud: your business has outgrown the woman who built it.

And if you don't pause to realign, you'll keep running strategies that no longer match your values, your voice, or your current capacity. You'll stay exhausted—and it won't be from overwork.

It's because pretending to be a version of yourself you no longer believe in is exhausting.

Your boundaries have evolved and standards have sharpened.

Your nervous system has likely recalibrated to need more peace, precision, and far fewer "shoulds."

But if your offers are still underpriced…

If your messaging still dances around the full power of what you do…

If you're still performing palatable leadership instead of embodied expertise, you're living a state of self-containment.

A client who'd been stuck at $8K months for two years raised her rates 40% the week after this realization. She didn't learn a new strategy; she stopped apologizing for outgrowing her old one.

Do not think for a moment you need a rebrand. What's required is a relationship reset, with your own brilliance.

And before you jump into action, I want you to sit with this.

Ask yourself:

Let yourself answer before your logic kicks in. Your nervous system already knows.

If your copy feels off, it's because the voice behind it isn't yours anymore.

If your offer feels heavy, it's because it was built by a woman who believed she had to earn her power, when all she had to do was embody it.

And if your results feel stagnant, the issue isn't strategy. It's loyalty.

You're just still trying to be understood by a version of the world (and a version of yourself) that no longer reflects your vision.

You're translating your brilliance into a voice that no longer belongs to you.

You've changed.

And that's a beautiful invitation to fully step int the upgraded version of you.

You already know what doesn't fit.

You've been managing it for months.

Editing yourself for what's familiar. Making it work out of habit.

Holding back out of memory.

Let her rest. She's done her work.

Let the structure that served her rest, too.

She got you here.

But now, it's your turn to lead from who you've become.
