My inbox tipped about two weeks ago. Gala season, conference season, holiday planning season, all arriving at once, each one perfectly reasonable on its own.

But combined, they create an event tsunami that I am carefully wading through currently.

Last week I asked you to test every invitation against your actual life before answering it. I have been running that test myself since, one ask at a time, sitting with my calendar open and my coffee going cold while I work out what a yes in November would actually cost in October.

It works.

It is also its own kind of tedium, one that has nothing to do with the work I am here to do.
